With 400 Chinese comics, so-called lianhuanhua, from the 1950’s, the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin owns a collection of rare pieces that give an impression of the early years of the People’s Republic of China. At that time, lianhuanhua were a popular medium not only for children. They served both to entertain and to educate the population. Due to copyright regulations, they have not been digitized yet, but interested library users may enjoy them in the reading room.
